HISTORY

AIGA National
Founded in 1914 as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, AIGA remains the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design and is now known simply as “AIGA, the professional association for design.”

AIGA believes designers serve a critical role as communicators, educators and innovators. AIGA sets the national agenda for the role of design in economic, social, political, cultural and creative contexts. AIGA now represents more than 25,000 designers through national activities and local programs developed by 69 chapters and 240 student groups.

AIGA Iowa
The Iowa Chapter of AIGA was established in 1994. The chapter is comprised of design professionals working as sole proprietors, principals, educators, or as designers in firms or associations.
