Since 1984, the Festival of Trees and Lights has been brightening the lives of children and families in central Iowa through the support of Child Life and the Center for Advocacy & Outreach. Business and organizations throughout the Des Moines metro come together to decorate trees that will be auctioned to raise funds for these charities.
Last year, AIGA Iowa's Typography Tree was created by a dozen volunteers and featured letters in red and silver. The tree was later featured in a promotional flyer for the Festival of Trees.
Our 2009 tree's theme is Peace, Joy + Paper. Share the holiday joy by helping us decorate the tree with folded paper ornaments created during Design Week. Everyone is invited to decorate the tree, so bring a friend or family member.
When: Sunday, November 22. Decorating starts at 11 am and ends in the early afternoon. Feel free to come and go as your schedule allows.
Where: Polk County Convention Complex, 501 Grand Avenue, Downtown Des Moines
What to bring: A set of helping hands! Show team spirit by wearing an AIGA t-shirt.
