Catalyst State: Iowa Design Weekend 2009 is November 13 -14 in Des Moines. The second bi-annual event is organized by Art Noir, a members’ affiliate group of the Des Moines Art Center, and takes place at multiple locations, including the Des Moines Art Center.
Through a combined approach of education, exhibition, and celebration, the two-day event brings together student and professional work in fashion, art, architecture, and design with an emphasis on environmental sustainability and social consciousness. We hope that this event will provide an avenue for more Iowans to become engaged in the art and design scene.
Reservations are now being accepted for a Portfolio Review with an industry professional on Saturday, November 14 from 10:30 am -Noon.
Designers working in any form of visual communication are welcome, including graphic design, web design, typography, and illustration.
Then, Art Noir will present 20 x 2010 / 20 Big Ideas for 2010 and Beyond, a forum for the exchange of cutting-edge ideas and trends in art and design, architecture, and technology. A total of 20 invited and juried practitioners will make brief presentations about their big ideas for the future on Saturday, November 14 at 2 pm.
