Doug Stevens(Program Director):
Why did you first join AIGA, and why do you continue to support AIGA?
I first joined AIGA to connect with other working creatives in the area. I think it’s easy to get detached from what’s going on around you in our profession. I continue to support AIGA because I’d like to see more opportunities for local designers, and animators to showcase their own work and see what the market has to offer our profession.
What are you aiming to achieve as a board member?
As Program Director, I’d like to help foster a group with meaningful personal and professional connections and help to create events that provide lasting value to members of the group.
What type(s) of work do you do?
I work as a video editor and motion graphics artist for Flynn Wright in Des Moines. I also do 3D and digital illustration work with a particular focus on comic, sci-fi and fantasy art.
Tips for new and/or prospective AIGA members?
If you are new to AIGA or thinking about joining, my advice is that you get out of the group what you put into it. The more you show up, the more you contribute to group conversations, the more you’ll find that your voice is heard and help to shape the path of our chapter.
